 On August 30, Kannywood actress Safiya Yusuf recalled staying out of the public eye after her n*de video leaked in 2020.

In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, the 21-year-old actress said it was the most frustrating moment of her life, having spent three months at home, adding that when she finally got up the courage to face the world , especially when she was severely criticized and stoned to death by a man.

She said: “It was the most frustrating period of my life because for three months I didn’t go anywhere near the front door, I stayed at home, and when I found the energy to go out, people on the street started harassing me and one that People hated me and even stoned me.”

The actress then thanked her family and others who supported her during the scandal. Safiya also said she was not banned by Kannywood, adding that she was just taking a break.

Safiya, commonly known as Safara’u, is best known for her role on Arewa24’s hit series Kwana Casa’in.

But unfortunately, a private video of the young actress was leaked and went viral online. While the le@ked video is said to be the main reason she lost her role on the show, multiple attempts by the actor and artists close to him to address the issue have failed.

But she didn’t let that stop her from pursuing her path as an entertainer; the actress became very active on social media and later started a new career as a singer.

In her song “Kwalelenka,” she explains that she left Kannywood to sing, and describes the Hausa filmmaking industry as “Sana’ar Yan Wahala,” implying that Kannywood was nothing more than a futile labor camp.
