Brian was wedded, had four children, and resided with his family in Wind Point, Wisconsin. Robert Wittke, Sr. and Margaret Wittke, née Jankowski, his parents, raised him in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1975, Wittke earned a BA from William Horlick High School.
In 1980, he graduated with a doctorate in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He worked as an accountant for Modine Manufacturing in Racine from 1980 to 1986. From 1988 to 1994, he was employed for Snap-on Inc. in Kenosha.
He served as a tax advisor at Deloitte from 1994 to 2002. He has worked with CORPTAX, a Deerfield, Illinois-based provider of tax software as a service, since 2012.
